The Women Business Owner Network is an organization whose mission it is to support women in business and provide educational and networking opportunities for its members. Elizabeth Warren of Otter Creek Awnings, Sunrooms, and Custom Closets has been a participating member for years. “I joined WBON in 2009 when my husband Todd and I purchased Otter Creek and I came back to work after several years off. It seemed like a wonderful opportunity to get back involved in the business community’, says Elizabeth. There are several chapters in Vermont and two in Chittenden County; Williston and Burlington. Each chapter meets monthly and offers the opportunity to visit and network. The meeting format also includes a presentation from a member. “What makes WBON a little different is that the presentations have a support focus. They are about how what we do can help someone instead of just a product and marketing driven presentation.” explains Elizabeth.
In the spring and fall WBON sponsors a conference with more in-depth presentations. “I didn’t know until I attended and presented at a conference the tremendous value of the one day seminars.” says Elizabeth. The most recent conference in Oct. 2012 included a keynote address by Jeanne Morrissey of J.A. Morrissey Inc., a well respected contractor here in Vermont. “Her message was both motivational and inspiring and well worth the price of admission!”
