Taking Care for your Awning

You’re rolling out your awning for the first time this season and you noticed it’s a little dull and a bit dirty.  Take care to clean your awning before it gets too dirty.  It’s recommended that you clean your awning in the spring and in the fall when you roll it in for the final time.

There are three options for cleaning your awning.

OPTION 1

Basic Cleaning:  Don’t wait until the awning is too dirty to clean. Wash the awning by brushing lightly with a cloth or soft brush. Use a solution of lukewarm water (at least a gallon) and Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent or Dish Liquid, found in the supermarket. You can add 1 cup of bleach to the solution to kill mildew (don’t worry, we’ve tested this ourselves).  Another product we’ve tested is Tilex, found in your local supermarket, spray on the fabric, brush lightly then rinse off with a hose.

Don’t forget to wipe down the frame and hood too.  Our fabric is Sunbrella fabric, the leader in outdoor material and known for being mildew resistant and resist fading.

OPTION 2

We have industrial cleaning products and protectants for sale at our showroom.  See the list below.

Apseal: Premium open weave fabric protector and water repellent

OPTION 3

We can come to your home and take your fabric off  the frame and send it out to be professionally cleaned. This may take several weeks.  Please call and inquire about timing and price.
